The future we envision for Sonlight church is to be an open and inclusive family of believers seeking Gods leadership and relying on His grace as we serve others and encourage one another on our journey together towards a closer relationship with each other in our walk with God.
1. Lordship of Christ
We acknowledge that Christ is the Lord of all and we accountable to him.
“And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be the head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” (Ephesians 1:22-23)

2. Bible Centered Teaching/Preaching
We acknowledge God’s word as the final authority and we seek to accurately understand and convey the teachings of the Bible through the direction of the Holy Spirit.
“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6)
See also 2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Corinthians 2:12-13
3. Grace Orientation to Life
We value grace as the basis for our salvation. As a result, we serve Christ from hearts of love and gratitude and extend to each other the freedom that comes through Christ.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
4. Prayer
We believe that God desires for his people to pray and that he hears and answers prayer.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18)
“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16b)
5. Meaningful Worship
Worship is our heart’s reaction to a loving God. We seek to have assemblies that are pleasing to God and meaningful for those who are participants.
“Come let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord or Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” (Psalm 95:1,2,6,7a)

6. People Matter To God
Christ died for all people. We seek to imitate Christ by addressing human need and using every possible means to bring others to God. We want every member to know that they belong and every guest to feel at home. We encourage deep friendships, hospitality, and other ways of building relationships.
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” …“Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (Romans 12:10, 13)
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

7. Committed Christians
We value the commitment to daily follow Christ individually and as a body of believers.
“Then he said to them all, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”” (Luke 9:23)

8. Strong Families –
We strive to model a Biblical view of family and marriage before a watching world.
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure.” (Hebrews 13:4)
“Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33)
“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
